A quick and easy look which epitomises everything I want to feel about the new year and fresh starts; simple white canvas shoes and a big bag to throw books and knitting in... classic straight, dark jeans in an easy flattering cut... and a breton with an optimistic, cheerful twist. Finished with delicious scents from two of my absolute favourite brands right now - The Bath House, and Neal's Yard. I love both for the same reason; their concoctions smell clean and like the essential oils that used to line the shelves in my mum's practice (she used to be a holistic therapist). It's gotten a lot warmer here over the past few days, so much so that I've been venturing out in just a jumper, jeans and ballet pumps - what a delight after being buried in onionlike layers for the past few months! I'm under no illusion that this will last (I'm sure we will be back to frost next week) but it's pleasant all the same. A hasty post as I'm insanely busy this week at work, in a good way :) I guess my new year's resolutions will have to wait 'til this weekend to be published... until then, have a great week!

P.S. So excited to see that Baggu have expanded their range of products to include a larger weekend bag with double straps! Would be great to see this in even more colours.

    1. yes they're AMAZING! I was a little skeptical about them at first (how can a canvas bag be worth more than £15?!) but I took the plunge, ordered the duck tote in navy and cream breton stripes, and have never looked back; great quality canvas and very hardy, I think mine will last for a long time, as it stands up well to multiple washing machine washes.

it's actually rather lovely in the UK right now! even a little humid - although this makes me terribly anxious about global warming. this time last year (and the year before) we were snowed in, so weird and surreal to have such a big change from one year to the next!

  2. You had me googling Baggu and the white bag you featured but then I had a wakeup call and thought "I'm a mucky pup" - I wouldn't be able to keep that clean for more than 2 mins. Hope you liked the Bath House fragrance.

Oh yes and the weather has just changed again ... for the colder.

    1. I know what you mean, although you can throw them in the washing machine! that's why I like them I think - they're virtually indestructible!

I do, I absolutely love it! I told the girls at work that you sent me that & the beautiful bracelet, and we were wishing all of our clients were so wonderful :) hehe. it's a very warm and wintery scent - did you give it a sniff?

the weather is CRAP here today, I jinxed it! getting pretty sick of it now. I always long for snow around Christmas but as soon as it's over I've had enough tbh, I just want spring time now...

  4. Happy New Year! I swear by Baggu's zippered pouches for travel, various gadget chargers, and personal items- so good. White bags scare the crap out of me though! I love how cheerful this post is- it makes me feel hopeful for Spring.

    1. Happy 2013 to you too! glad I made you feel hopeful :) heh. how is the new year treating you so far?

I haven't ever tried Baggu's zip pouches, but I really like the look of them! if I put in an order from them I think I'll probably get more than one thing to justify the postage, so zip pouches could definitely be on the agenda.

    1. it does doesn't it? :( boo. I really want it to just stay jumper & jeans weather - I like that best!

we certainly do need a catch up! when does that start? I'm feeling tremendously poor after Christmas madness, and I'm off on a business trip (to Wales, of all places!) at the end of Jan - but Feb is looking like a good time for me! :D x

  6. A great collection of items. Have you tried any of Uniqlo's denim? What do you think? I'm curious to try it but didn't take the leap with my last order from Uniqlo. Would love any advice. I got the white chucks about a year ago and wear them to death. They go with everything, and are perfect for my current life as a student. I really want to try Baggu's stuff now. I had a phase where I was looking at them but never ended up getting anything. I too, love all things white, both for clothing and for the home, but have to pick and choose carefully, because of the dirtiness factor. I really wanted to get a white sofa for our new home but have decided to resist the urge.

    1. I have and I love it - their trousers fit me better than anything I've ever tried. not strictly denim, but I've practically lived in two pairs of Uniqlo corduroy jeans this winter. The sizing is on the bigger side I find, and they do helpful half sizes in some things too.

Baggu is really great, you should definitely take the plunge! I would recommend their canvas 'duck' bag style (I have one in the breton stripe) as an all purpose day bag which fits laptop/groceries/books/gym stuff/everything! really great purchase :)

oooh a white sofa sounds delicious! get one with machine washable covers? we have removable covers on ours and it's a total life saver!
